We are proud to announce that Light Lens Lab 28mm f/2.8 "Nine Element" has completed the prototype stage. The lens is in production, and it is now available to order.
A prototype has been made and arrived in North America for testing. It is now available to loan to potential reviewers. The prototype lens is currently being tested by reviewers at Leica Society International.
Our initial design of the 28mm f/2 ASPH "Nine Element" in our previous announcement has been altered. The change was due to the lens being impractical in physical size during testing. However, several design aspects of the initial 28mm f/2 ASPH are being used on the 28mm f/2.8 "Nine Element."
Information:
- A close homage to the original "Nine Element"; it closely follows the original nine elements in a six-group design.
- Closely follows the original classical "Nine Element" rendering with quality and modern improvements.
- New made in-house elements infused with fluorite elements. An extra-low dispersion (ED) glass element improves edge-to-edge rendering performance, dispersion, and distortion.
- Optimized for digital sensors, elimination of red-fringing phenomenon that occurred on the original Nine Element.
- The lens retains the classic body aesthetic, with a classic focus tab and infinity lock. The lens, it is now made with brass alloy construction.
- Lenses are made by hand and assembled in limited quantities at the highest quality control and tolerance.
- Available in Chrome and Black Paint finishes

The lens will be available to order starting August 28, 2024, at 12 a.m. EDT. As a special initial launch price, the lens will be USD 799 for Chrome and USD 849 for Black Paint. The initial special price period will last until September 10, 2024, with the price will resume to normal MSRP. We will begin shipping on September 30, 2024.
