We would like to share several updates regarding the current production of the Light Lens Lab 35mm f/2 “Apochromatic”, together with design revisions introduced in response to community feedback.
Updated Front-Ring Design and Custom Engraving
We have revised the front-ring engraving design shown in our previous announcement to better align with current manufacturing requirements. We have also developed a new version of the front ring to accommodate customers who would like custom engraving.
Custom-engraving availability will remain subject to production capacity and will be handled on a request basis.
Transition to Close-Focus Knurling
Following community feedback and strong demand for the 35mm f/2 “Apochromatic” with close-focus knurling, we began manufacturing the required exterior components in August 2026. Production of the knurled configuration is now underway.
A batch of Black Paint without close-focus knurling remains scheduled for shipment in September 2026. However, following this batch, we will discontinue the smooth, non-knurled configuration. Future orders will therefore be changed to the close-focus-knurled configuration unless a customer specifically requests otherwise.
We can accommodate requests to retain the non-knurled configuration when production capacity permits, and we will handle them on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers who would like to keep their order without knurling should contact us directly. All lenses entering shipment after September 30, 2026, will be supplied with the close-focus-knurled configuration.
Updated Shipment Schedule
- Black Paint — Without Close-Focus Knurling: September 2026
- Titanium Grey Limited Edition — With Close-Focus Knurling: October–November 2026
- Black Paint — With Close-Focus Knurling: November–December 2026
- Silver Chrome — With Close-Focus Knurling: December 2026–February 2027
All production and delivery schedules remain subject to change. Manufacturing the 35mm f/2 “Apochromatic” remains exceptionally demanding, and each lens requires additional time to produce and assemble. We will ship completed lenses as soon as they become available and provide further updates if delays occur.
Titanium Grey Limited Edition Updates
Based on feedback following our initial Development and Availability Announcements, our production team has finalized several revisions to the Titanium Grey Limited Edition and its included accessories.
- The production model will incorporate new position-centring pins in the lens body. The lens hood will feature a corresponding positioning notch to provide a more secure fit and ensure centred alignment.
- A new magnetic front retaining ring will also be included. This accessory is intended to improve resistance to dust and moisture while protecting the front lens barrel.
Aluminum Finish Updates
The Black Paint and Silver Chrome aluminum versions will also include a new screw-on front retaining ring for the lens hood thread mount. This ring is intended to improve resistance to dust and moisture while protecting the front lens barrel and lens-hood mounting thread.
