Hello Everyone,
We would like to share updates regarding the continued development of our “Z21” series.

June 05, 2026 — Following the release and ongoing research behind the Light Lens Lab 50mm f/1.5 “Z21,” we are proud to announce the development and production of the Light Lens Lab 75mm f/1.5 “Z21." This lens represents the next step in our commitment to building a complete family of "Z21" lenses across multiple focal lengths, developed around a shared rendering philosophy rather than a single historical reference. Unlike many of our previous projects, the 75mm f/1.5 “Z21” is not an homage to an existing optical formula. Instead, it is based entirely on our own optical research, production experience, and long-term goal of defining the “Z21” rendering signature across multiple focal lengths.
Key highlights
- Independent Design: The Light Lens Lab 75mm f/1.5 “Z21” is especially important to us because it marks one of our first major milestones in independently researching, developing, and producing a standalone series of optical designs.

- Distinctive "Z21' Rendering: Classic Double-Gaussian optical foundation, closely follows the 50mm f/1.5 "Z21, with continuation of its definition of performance: tonal separation, atmospheric out-of-focus rendering, controlled optical imperfection, and a balance between sharpness and character. The 75mm f/1.5 “Z21” continues this direction, while extending the "Z21" rendering profile into a longer focal length suitable for portraiture and cinematic work.

- Improvements Over 50mm f/1.5 "Z21"—Based on our continued research, internal testing, and feedback from the photographic community, we have made several improvements to the 75mm f/1.5 “Z21. Improvements include enhanced corner sharpness, improved edge-to-edge consistency, and comprehensive sensor coverage.

- Coverage of 44x33mm sensor — Continuation of its coverage of 44x33mm sensors, while maintaining the atmospheric rendering and optical characters expected from the Z21 series.

- Lanthanide-infused optical element as part of its distinctive rendering and optical characteristics.

- Aluminum alloy body, balancing durability with portability. All mechanical and optical components are designed, manufactured, and hand-assembled in-house.

Continuation of the Z21 Series
The 75mm f/1.5 “Z21” is only the next step in our long-term plan for the Z21 series.
Similar to the SP-II series, we will continue to research additional focal lengths and gather feedback from photographers, cinematographers, testers, and the broader photography community. Our goal is to expand the Z21 series into a wider range of focal lengths for both photographic and cinematic purposes, with further development updates planned for 2027.
